Highlights From Our Family Christmas

Being a parent at Christmas time is something special. You get to relive Christmas through a child's eyes.

Christmas 2016 is in the books. It was so much fun to watch Colton experience Christmas this year. He is at an observant age. Everything is “Whas ‘at”? Anything new to him is “ooo” and “wow!”

“Oh wow!” was his response to finding our Shepherd on the Search, Zeke, under the tree by his nativity on Christmas Eve morning.

We had our little family Christmas on the 23rd. Stu came home from work and we opened presents.

Slipper socks so he stops biffing it on the kitchen floor…Except they’re too big so now he trips instead of slips. Sometimes, you can’t win.

And the Packers! Thank you, Stu!

For supper, we made Cornish Hens and mashed potatoes. The Cornish Hens were a tradition that Stu’s mom did when the boys were young. After supper, we put Colton in his PJs and loaded him up in the car to go down Candy Cane Lane to look at the Christmas lights. Rear-facing car seats are a buzz-kill when it comes to kids looking at Christmas lights. Still, Stu and I enjoyed ourselves. We finished the evening watching Miracle on 34th Street and eating pie from Penny’s Diner while Colton dreamed Christmas dreams.

Because we weren’t going to be home on Christmas day, Santa Claus came Christmas Eve morning before we hit the road to Grammy and Papa’s.

When we got to Grammy and Papa’s we were excited to see Great-grandma Bonnie! She had been sick and is spending some time in a nursing home to recover. But we busted her out for the day!

We hope you all had a Merry Christmas! Enjoy 2017!
